SYDNEY TRAIL HALF MARATHON

COURSE OVERVIEW 2025

COURSE OVERVIEW

  • Section 1 // The Start

The first two kms of the course is road and fire trail. You’ll be going slightly uphill until you reach the first single track section which is 2.14 kms into the race. Once you cross a small creek you will run down some dreamy single tracks until reach the left hand turn to enter Seville Reserve

  • Section 2 // Seville Reserve:

Once entering Seville Reserve you will run up rocky fire trails and this is where you will find your first climb of the race. The hill is ~500 metres long and you will gain ~30 metres of vert. Once at the top you will drop down into amazing single trails that are hidden behind houses and roads. It won’t be long until you reach one of the course highlights - a mile long MTB trail that can only be described as a single track clover. This section of trail is so dreamy and we can’t wait for you all to enjoy running through it

After the single track clover you will exit Seville Reserve and alternate between fire trail and single tracks before reaching the foot path next to Bettington Rd

  • Section 3 // The Road In:

In order to connect Lake Parramatta and Hunts Creek Reserve, runners will need to run on the footpath, cross one road and three streets. There will be marshalls at every intersection ensuring that runners cross the road safely. It is crucial that all runners give way for cars and follow the marshalls directions. This section has some small punchy hills but overall will be very fast and runnable. The highlight of this section is the footpath built next to Hunts Creek. This 700 metre section is filled with tall gum trees & lots of bearded dragons

During this section you will pass an aid station at 9.5kms

  • Section 4 // The Waterfall Loop

Hunts Creek Reserve is a network of runnable single trails that are built around the stunning Balaka Falls. Runners will get the chance to run past and over the waterfall. After leaving the waterfall you will loop around Hunts Creek reserve on 3 kms of beautiful single tracks & fire trails

  • Section 5 // The Road Back

Once exiting Hunts Creek Reserve you will retract your footsteps along the footpath and head back towards Lake Parramatta. This section has two steep & short hills but like the way in is very fast and runnable. You will need to cross one road and three streets to get back to Lake Parramatta Reserve and there will be marshalls at every intersection ensuring that runners cross the road safely.

During this section you will pass the aid station again at 14.5 kms

  • Section 6 // The Lake

You will enter back into Lake Parramatta and only have five kilometres left before you reach the finish line. However, 85% of the way back will be single trails and the most technical sections are found at the end of the race. For the most part you will be running down stream and there are two final climbs before you finish. That being said you will be treated to amazing single trails that wrap around Lake Parramatta & supportive cheers as you cross the finish and recieve your medal ❤️
